John Charles "JC" Riedl, Jr., 73, died June 25, 2025, on his farm near Susank, Kansas. He was born September 6, 1951, in Hoisington, the son of John C. Riedl, Sr. and Eleanor M. (Pelz) Riedl. John graduated from Hoisington High School in 1969 and then attended Salina Vo-Tech College. John served in the Army National Guard.
A lifetime Barton County resident, John spent many years as a tester in the oilfield retiring from Diamond Testing. His main love was his farm, tending his cattle and his many pets, including his loyal and beloved dogs Amos and Badger. He was a history buff who loved to read and watch movies. He also enjoyed watching and following all sports from The Hoisington Cardinals to The Masters.
On January 26, 1974, he married Darlene Booth, they were blessed with three children, Bruce, Sarah, and Jennifer. They later divorced but continued to enjoy time together with their kids and grandkids.
Survivors include; son, Bruce Riedl and wife Kelsie of Ellinwood; daughter, Sarah DeRango and husband Justin Corio of Windsor, Colorado; brother, Frank Riedl and wife Brenda of Great Bend; ex-wife, Darlene Nulton and husband Rick of Cheney; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jennifer Riedl, brother, Robert Riedl and a sister Joanne Reeves.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 7th, 2025, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. Family will greet friends prior to service at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kans for Kids or Camp Hope in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington KS 67544.
