Rev. John J. Riesenberg Jr.

Rev. John J. Riesenberg Jr., 90, of Villa Hills, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home, Villa Hills. He attended Immaculate Conception (Newport) and Newport Catholic High School. Fr. John would then attend Holy Cross Seminary, LaCrosse, WI. He was ordained on June 11, 1960 and began his pastoral career as Associate Pastor at St. Anthony Church, Bellevue and on the Faculty at Newport Catholic High School. Fr. John continued his ministry in 1964 as Associate Pastor at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Alexandria and on the Faculty at Bishop Brossart High School, Alexandria. He became chaplain at St. Anne Convent, Melbourne in 1972 and Secondary School Coordinator at the Office of Schools for the Diocese of Covington in 1978. A year later, Fr. John became the Director for the Cursillo Movement in the Diocese. He continued his pastoral career in 1981 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Falmouth and Admin Pro Temp at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, California. Later, he became Pastor at St. Francis de Sales Church, Newport (1987), St. Thomas Church, Ft. Thomas (1989) and retired in residence at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood (1999). Fr. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. & Loretta Riesenberg. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Carol) Riesenberg and several nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 18th at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Fr.
