John Ripich, born August 18, 1939, in Cleveland Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 9, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, John lived a life grounded in deep Christian faith, integrity, and humility.
For 42 years, John worked in various leadership roles at the American Tank & Fabricating Company, the business founded by his father, John J. Ripich. He retired as president of the steel service center division and executive vice president of the enterprise.
John was an active parishioner at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Catawba for more than forty years, and a proud member of the Catawba Island Club for over sixty years, serving as commodore in 1985. He also loved the outdoors - especially hunting and fishing with friends and family. Time spent in nature, sharing stories and quiet mornings, brought him great joy throughout his life.
Family was the center of John's world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie (nee Wise), with whom he shared 64 years of marriage; his sons Robert Ripich (Valerie) and Kenneth Ripich (Mary); Dear Grandad of Maria Jarus (Dr. Robert), Andrew (Taylor), Madison, Parker, KJ and Great Grandfather of six. Preceded in death by his parents John Joseph and Mary Ripich and brother Lawrence.
John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2370 NE Catawba Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Friends and loved ones are invited to join the family for a celebration of John's life at the Catawba Island Club immediately after the service.
