Mr. John will be missed very much. He was such a wonderful person and a great friend to my mom. I enjoyed the times we would sit around and laugh. I know the last conversation we had was about God. I will cherish our friendship and continue to pray for the family. God Bless.

Obituary

John's Obituary

John Robbins entered into eternal rest on January 8th, 2020. He was born in York County, South Carolina on February 8, 1940 to his proud parents Martha and John Robbins. John attended Charlotte Mecklenburg’s “Second Ward” High School. John was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Robbins in 2012. In addition to his parents, John is also preceded by his three brothers James, Obadiah (Obidie), and Randolph Robbins and three sisters Marion Glen, Josie B. Reid and Maggie McCluney. John was a devoted husband, committed father, beloved grandfather as well as supportive son and brother; who was always quick to extend a helping hand to those in need. He was a man of few words but worked hard to provide for his large family.John retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service with Merita Bakery as a warehouse foreman. While John was not affiliated with a church; he was a believer of God and gave his life when he was a young boy.John’s legacy continues through his children Pamela Reeves of Charlotte, NC, Reginald Robbins of Fort Mill, SC, Anthony (Tonya R) Robbins of Huntersville, NC, Darryl Robbins ofFort Mill, SC, Derrick Robbins of Charlotte, NC,Tonya D. Robbins of Charlotte, NC, Jeffrey Robbins of Mobile, Al and Bryant (Marcella) Robbins of Belmont, NC, including 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grand children. He has three surviving sisters; Ozella Goode, Jessie Foster and Martha Harris along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.John found joy in the simple things in life; like taking care of his deceased wife Mary, watching wrestling and western movies, making fruit bags for his kids at Christmas, taking family trips to the beach and laughing at his grown sons acting like 12 year old children running around playing sports in the back yard. He also relished the time spent with his family and proudly watched as his grandchildren grew into beautiful young men and women. While its sad that he’s gone; we find peace in knowing that he has finally reunited with his wife.
