John B. Romano Sr.

John Baptist Romano, Sr., 86, of Waretown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 surrounded by his family. John was born in The Bronx, NY and was a graduate of the New York School of Printing, in 1957. He moved to Garfield, NJ and in 1963, married the love of his life and resided in Fairfield for 34 years before moving to Waretown. In June of this year, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
John proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1965.
John founded, John Romano, Inc. (later changed to JRI Graphic Communications), in 1974, an award-winning graphic design and typesetting firm, serving as president. He later founded Unified Graphics, Inc., a printing company, and also served as president. Both companies received numerous accolades from many domestic and international clients. John retired in 2007.
For relaxation, John enjoyed long drives in his convertible, excursions to Atlantic City, card games with his many friends, watching football, especially the New York Giants, and listening to his extensive collection of Frank Sinatra. A long-standing member of the Greenbriar Billiards Club, John won the 2016 Tournament and also served as captain of his bocci team. But most of all, John loved spending time with his son, daughter and five grandchildren.
John's unwavering kindness and warmth, his infectious smile and laughter, his generous nature, and endless optimism will be missed deeply. Though he has left this world, his spirit will remain eternal in the hearts of those he touched.
John was predeceased by his father, Sophocles (Sal) Romano, his mother, Mary, and sister, Josephine. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Ann Romano nee Yondolino, a son, John Baptist Romano, Jr.; a daughter, Lisa Ann Romano Loffredo; and five grandchildren, John, Michael and Katherine Romano and Vincent and Jessica Loffredo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Pius X in Forked River on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 10:00 am for family and friends followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Westminster Place, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Riggs Funeral Home, Forked River.
