Mr. John P. Rose Jr.

LOWELL- John Pliny Rose Jr., 79, of Lowell, MA passed away on January 6, 2026 at The Atrium at Drum Hill surrounded by his family. John was born on November 2, 1946 in North Hampton MA, a son of John P. Sr. and Constance (Cross) Rose. He graduated from Merrimack College in 1970 with a degree in Sociology and went on to have a long career at Lucent Technologies as a Shipping Supervisor. John proudly served in the Army Reserves and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. John enjoyed researching family histories, and traced his own family lineage back several generations. He collected records and loved listening to Peter, Paul and Mary. A lover of fantasy and sci-fi John enjoyed the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter books and movies. He was a pre-Tom Brady Patriots supporter, and a life-long Drew Bledsoe fan. John traveled through Europe extensively retracing his father's WWII tour, and enjoyed many family trips around the US, and summer visits to Wellfleet, MA. He was always ready for a great meal, and a good glass of wine, he had an adventurous palate and loved a spicy addition to his food. John is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years Kathleen Rose (O'Connor), his children Kimberly LaCedra and her husband Chris of Tyngsboro, Jill Espinola and her husband Derek of Lowell, and Matthew Rose and his wife Yovani Baez-Rose of Lowell. John was a proud Papa to his eight grandchildren Giana, Giacobbe and Giuliana LaCedra, Thomas, Marcus and Stella Espinola, Antonia and Josephine Rose. He is also survived by his siblings Jerry Rose of Groveland, Karen and Robert Zick of Plaistow, NH, Maureen and Richard Julian of Candia, NH, Elizabeth Rose of Groveland MA, his in-laws Diane and Timothy Winslow of Willard, OH, Daniel and Denise O'Connor of Lowell, MA, and many nieces and nephews.

The Rose Family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Atrium in Drum Hill for the loving care they provided John in his final days. John will be missed by all who knew him.

JOHN'S FUNERAL WILL BEGIN FROM THE FUNERAL HOME AT 9 AM ON MONDAY JANUARY 12, 2026 FOLLOWED BY HIS FUNERAL MASS AT HOLY FAMILY PARISH, ST. MARIE'S CHURCH, CORNER OF CHAMBERLAIN AND GRAFTON STS. LOWELL. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT THE LOWELL CEMETERY.
