John Ruark Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 20, 2025.
John Stanley Ruark Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 77, in Pasadena, Maryland. Born on March 19, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, John was known for his kind heart and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
A proud resident of Pasadena, John was dedicated not only to his community but also to his work as a store manager at Lucky's, where he was respected and valued by both his colleagues and customers. In his later career, he worked as a Warehouse Manager for Abby's Fencing. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, crabbing, and enjoying frequent trips to Ocean City. John found joy in taking leisurely walks around the pond at Lake Waterfort, feeding the ducks, and tinkering in his well-organized shed. A lover of old trains and cars, he spent much of his time immersed in these interests.
John's appreciation for life's simple pleasures was matched by his love for family. He cherished moments surrounded by his children: John Ruark III (Angie), Rachel Burrier (Frank) and Michelle DeVincentz; and step-children, Marion Boblits (Kevin), Ann Marinelli, Howard Ruark, Charlie Ruark, John Parsley, and Bo Ruark. His sister, Joyce Carignan, and an extended family of beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Robert Ward, Jr., Destiny Cookson, Amber Larrimore, Dennis Larrimore, IV, John Ruark, IV, Kayla Ruark (Jayden), Gabe Ruark, Shai Ruark, Frankie Burrier (Sheila), Adam Burrier, Cameron Burrier, Mikala DeVincentz, Michael DeVincentz, Liam DeVincentz; several bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren, John Ruark, V, Gabriella Ruark, Elias Burrier, who were constant sources of joy and inspiration.
John was preceded in death by his loving parents, John Stanley Ruark Sr. and Frances A. Ruark, his sister Dorothy, and children, Frances and Robert. Despite the losses he faced, John remained a pillar of strength and love for those around him, embracing each day with happiness and gratitude.
An enthusiast of classic country music, especially the tunes of Willie Nelson, John's heart was always filled with warmth and rhythm. His love for his furry companions, particularly his cats, was well-known, as was his devotion to his family.
Family and friends are invited to honor John's memory at a graveside service, which will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie, Maryland, on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10:00 am.
As we remember John, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to local animal shelters, reflecting John's love for animals, or simply spend a moment reflecting on the joys he brought to those around him.
John Stanley Ruark Jr. will be deeply missed, yet his legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
