John Wilson Rush 86 of Harrisburg passed away 1:15 AM Tuesday January 20, 2026 at his residence. He was born April 14, 1939 in Enfield to Erwin G. and Anna Wilson Rush. He was married to the love of his life Judy Cummins for over 50 years until her passing in 2014. John was an Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He worked 18 years for Ink Company in Fennville, MI and later working for Rides Mass Transit in Harrisburg. He and his wife Judy also started a campground and managed that for some years before coming to Southern Illinois. John loved camping and working on cars but especially spoiling his grandkids.
John is survived by his wife Tonya Mitchell Rush, one son Arthur and wife Senaida, 1 brother Bill Rush, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild along with a host of nieces and nephews and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Erwin and Anna Rush, his first wife Judy, 3 sister, Ida Bachman, Ruthetta Logan and Brenda Miller.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday January 28, 2026 at the Springerton Community Church in Springerton, IL with Curtis Rush officiating and burial will follow in Springerton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Springerton Community Church after 12 PM Wednesday
