John Joseph Ryan of Stony Point passed away peacefully on November 10, 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 83. Born in the Bronx, NY, John was the son of John Ryan and Mary Ryan (Sweeney). John is survived by his wife Patricia (Saunders) of Stony Point, his sons John (Jodi) of Montvale, NJ, and Edward (Susan) of Cocoa, Florida and his wife's son Brian Martin. He is additionally survived by his brother Robert (Brighid) as well as nephew Mark and niece Delia along with his sister-in-law Joyce, nephew Daniel and niece Kathy. After graduation from high school in the Bronx, John joined the US Army in 1956 and served proudly for three years in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. After his honorable discharge in 1959, John completed schooling under the GI Bill and became an electrical engineer. John had a lengthy career with the NYC Transit Authority of over 20 years and also worked for several national engineering firms. His expertise was in the rail transit business, where he worked on multiple electrical engineering projects with respect to the NYC Subway System, Metro North and NJ Transit.

John was a member of the Haverstraw Elks Lodge and a founding member of the North Rockland Social Club.
