John Sapochak Obituary

age 64, passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2021. He was born on July 8, 1957, to the late John and Margaret (nee Smilanich) Sapochak in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a US Navy Veteran. John retired as an elevator mechanic with over 30 years of service and was a union and professional association member. John loved his family dearly, always welcomed a challenge, and considered everything "fixable". As an Ohio native, he was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Indians. John had a passion for racing, particularly NASCAR, which he enjoyed with his son, Brian. On any given night or weekend, you could find John at a car show proudly talking about his Corvettes with other enthusiasts. He was a Blenko glass collector, and shared his fondness for animals with his daughter, Sara. Left to cherish John's memory are his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Nancy (Radca) Sapochak ; his children, Sara Marie (Corey Sanford) Sapochak and Brian John (Amanda Cruea) Sapochak; his sister-in-law, Karen (Ronald) Yasher, and his lifelong best friend, Bruce Ellis. He was a loving Godfather and uncle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law, Betty and Thomas Radca. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm Tuesday, September 14, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. A service will be held 12 Noon on Wednesday , September 15, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
