SHORT GAP, WV – John Saville, 77, of Short Gap, WV, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025 at home.

John lived the life marked by strength, warmth, and resilience.

He touched the lives of many with his kindness, quick wisdom, and unwaveringly loving love for his family and friends. He was someone who appreciated the simple joys, spending time outdoors, enjoying a good game, and being with those he cared about. He especially loved playing golf, bowling, and softball; he was always up for some friendly competition and a good laugh.

John's presence was steady and kind. Whether you knew him for a lifetime or a short while, he made an impression with his warm spirit and love for others. His grace and the face of illness were a testament to the kind of man he was – strong, selfless, and deeply loved.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Saville; children, John Saville Junior and Julie Meadows; grandchildren, Haley Meadows and Ramsey Saville. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Pauline Saville, and Patti Carder and husband Jim and many loving nieces and nephews and longtime friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Foreman and Tenny Saville; brother, Junior Saville; and sisters, Helen Combs and Linda Nines.

Friends will be received at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 24 Humbird Street, Cumberland on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Rick Jewell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Schwab Cancer Center, Attn: Katie Sites, 12500 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.

John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
