JOHN SCANLON

Of Berwyn Heights, Maryland died on October 7, 2022 at Kenwood Care Assisted Living, Laurel, MD. He was born in Washington, DC on May 25, 1929. John was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1949 and was sent to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas for basic training. He later conducted automotive training courses at Nellis Air Base, Las Vegas, Nevada. He also served in Korea and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant from Langley Air Force Base, Virginia in 1954. Upon leaving military service, John was employed by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors for four years. He then owned and operated service stations for many years in the Adelphi, Maryland area, until his retirement. John was predeceased by his special friend of 41 years, Anna Haslup. He is survived by his nephews, Michael, Larry and Terry Friedman and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Donaldson Funeral Home P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a funeral service starting at 12 p.m. Interment immediately to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
