John Schipper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Foothills Cremation and Funeral Service - Castle Rock on Mar. 26, 2026.
John Kenneth Schipper was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was deeply loved by his wife, Leslie, and his children-Jessica and her husband Derek, Joshua, and Hawkins. He dearly loved his mother Elaine, sister Bonnie, and brothers Mark and Stephen. His family was the center of his life, and his loss has left an immeasurable void.

John was a dedicated aerospace engineer whose work supported NASA and its partner programs, contributing to advanced space systems and mission-critical technology. He was known for his precision, intelligence, and commitment to getting things right-work that quietly helped support complex and meaningful missions.

Beyond his professional life, John was endlessly curious and creative. He enjoyed painting and even making his own paints, combining both science and art. He spent time 3D printing, working with a laser cutter, and exploring hands-on projects that brought his ideas to life. He loved the outdoors-traveling, scuba diving, biking, and cultivating bonsai trees and propagating plants. He collected rocks as a hobby geologist and enjoyed tinkering with robotics, programming, and anything that let him build, experiment, and learn.

John had a wide range of hobbies and interests, and he embraced them fully-so much so that he became a familiar face at Micro Center and spent countless hours (and likely more than a few paychecks) at Hobby Lobby, always in pursuit of his next idea or project.

John also cherished time playing games, especially Dungeons & Dragons with his sons and friends-creating stories, laughter, and lasting memories together. He was a deep thinker who loved game creation and was always imagining new ideas and worlds.

John was a genuinely kind and steady presence, with a playful sense of humor and a natural ability to gently (and sometimes not so gently) tease those he cared about. People could be themselves around him and he accepted others without judgment, listened with care, and offered thoughtful, meaningful advice. He made those around him feel heard and valued.

The overwhelming outpouring of love, messages, and shared memories reflects how many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

We invite you to join us in honoring and remembering the life of John Kenneth Schipper.

This service will be a time to gather, reflect, and celebrate the life of a devoted husband, father, and friend.
