John A. Schmidt

John Anthony Schmidt, age 85, of Clawson, passed away on December 22, 2025. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 7, 1940.
John was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was defined by love for his family and those close to him. He leaves behind his children, Brian Schmidt (Lisa Milewski) and Jessica Schmidt Sorensen(Steve Sorensen). He was a proud and loving grandfather to his two adoring granddaughters, Jane and Sophie Sorensen, who brought him immense joy.
He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Ann Marie Dadah (Lance Davis) and Kathy (Jim) Varty; his nieces, Sarah Muench(Steve) and Alison Lishawa (Shane); and many dear friends and extended family who will miss him greatly.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Beverly (Dadah) Schmidt, whose memory he cherished always. We rejoice that they are now reunited in heaven.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Deb Boyd for the wonderful care, compassion, and love she gave John over the past year. Her kindness meant more than words can express.
Visitation will take place Monday, December 29th, 4-7pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks, Clawson. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ, Our Light! Catholic Church, Troy, Tuesday, December 30th, 10:30am. Friends may visit beginning at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
