Carol A. Hynous, 78, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
Carol was born on July 21, 1947, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Harold and Marcella (Robbe) Hawkins. She attended and graduated from Clawson High School in Clawson, MI. She then attended Michigan State University and obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Third Order of St. Francis Hospital and retired in 2001.
Carol married Charles W. Hynous on June 21, 1969, at St. John’s Student Parish in East Lansing. The couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 2025. They moved to Iron River in 2001.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Society, St. Agnes Craft Club, Scottish Terrier Club of Chicago, and MSU Alumni. She enjoyed sewing, walking, and cruising.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Amy (Graham) Tillotson of Oak Park, IL and Beth (Darren) Knipfer of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother, Gary (Diane) Hawkins of Goodrich, MI; grandchildren, Grace and Sophia Tillotson and Benjamin, Nicholas, and Emmaline Knipfer; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A private service and funeral Mass will be held.
Interment will be in Bates Township Cemetery, Iron River.
