Our beloved Father, Grandpa and PowPow, passed away peacefully in Yakima on March 4, 2025, at the age of 87. John was born on October 27, 1937, in Ava Missouri. He was the beloved son of Ada and Bert Scribner, one of 11 siblings, and grew up in the small town of Selah, Washington.
At the age of 17, John joined the Navy crash crew, a chapter of his life that he always fondly remembered. He often shared stories about his military days, which were some of his most cherished memories. After his service, John worked as a logger for many years, helping to create many of the trails that we enjoy today. He later retired from his position as a forklift driver at Tree Top.
John's life was full of hard work and the things he loved most his family, the great outdoors, and his Bronco. He enjoyed countless hours camping, exploring the mountains, and tending to his yard. His commitment to his work and his passion for the simple pleasures of life were felt by all who knew him. Above all, he cherished his family more than anything.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Sue, their three children, Jim, Theresa and Troy, his parents, and many of his siblings. He leaves behind a lasting legacy that will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, James Scribner (December), Nichole Bonham (Travis), Tyler Scribner, SueEllen Scribner, and Cody Scribner, his great-grandchildren, Azlyn, Averi, Kimber, Freya, JJ, and Dallas, many extended family members, and all those who had the honor of knowing him. Johnny was a true legend, always one to be reckoned with, and he will be greatly missed.
John's memory will be honored by those who love him. "Love your bones
Rest in peace, Johnny. Your spirit and strength will forever be with us.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
