Send FlowersLIMA -- John W. Sealts, 79, of Lima passed away at 5:45 PM on Monday, March 9, 2026 at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born on May 28, 1946 in Columbus, to Glenmore and Elsie (Hardin) Sealts, who both preceded him in death. On June 21, 1969, he married Kathleen Downton, who survives in Lima.
John was a 1964 graduate of Lima Senior High School, where he played basketball for 3 years and golf for 2 years. He went on to further his education at Bowling Green University and then at Defiance College before enlisting in the Navy during the Vietnam era. After leaving the service, he returned to Lima to be the owner/operator of the family business Sealts Cleaning Company for over 40 years.
He was a member of the Lima Elks Lodge 54, the Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533, the Power Squadron and the Sertoma Club. He loved fishing, golfing, and boating and was an avid bowler for many years in the Westgate leagues. John was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Above all else, he loved his family.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife Kathleen Sealts of Lima are his son Adam (Melissa) Sealts of Lima and his grandchildren Megan, Josie and Gabe Sealts.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, with Pastor Kevin Hall officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
