John McClellan Shaffer

JOHN McCLELLAN SHAFFER, 72, of Frame, WV, went home to be with his Lord on December 25, 2025, after a long illness.
He was born December 31, 1952, in Charleston, WV; a son of the late Roscoe and Nina May Shaffer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Florrie Kathleen Shaffer, and brother, Pastor Wayne Stewart. John leaves behind his uncle, Johnny Hunt of St. Albans, WV; brother, Frank (Mary) Shaffer of St. Marys, WV, and brother, Ira (Carolyn) Huffman of Frame, WV. John had four children: John Jr. and Robert (Melissa). both of Frame, WV, James (Jodie) of Pinch, WV, and daughter, April (Kevin) Good of Frame, WV, as well as unofficial adopted sons, Roy (Tina) Young, also of Frame, WV. and BJ (Gerri) Wilson of Elkview, WV. He leaves three grandchildren: Cody Shaffer, Christopher (Kristen) Good, and Kiara (Adam) Little. He also leaves eight great-granddaughters: Amanda, Charlotte, Presley "Peanut" Little; Cynthia, Destiny, Faith, Jamie "Diggy" Good, and Violet Shaffer. John's unofficial adopted grandchildren include: Leah Harper, Haylee Wilson, and River Scott. He will be deeply missed by his two dogs: Killer and Toby, that went everywhere with him. He also leaves behind many other family members, as well as friends he considered family.
John was a disabled truck driver from Bob's Market & Greenhouse in Mason, WV. His trucker family knew him as "Little John." He loved driving truck and missed doing it for a living when he became unable to continue driving. He loved reading his Bible, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, but most of all, he loved his family and especially all of his grandkids. They were the light of his life. Diggy was his little buddy for sure.
While John is happy and not suffering any longer, he was loved and will be missed by so many.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, WV, with the Reverend Bobby Newhouse officiating. Burial will follow in the Shaffer Family Cemetery, located in Frame, WV.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to service.
