John C. Shaw
SHILOH – John Cole Shaw CPA, 81, entered the presence of his Lord & Savior on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. at Senior Commons at Powder Mill. He was the devoted husband of the late Patricia A. (Kohler) Shaw to whom he was married for 57 years. John was born on March 1, 1944, to Levener Ann DeHaven Clough Ludiam of Crisfield, Maryland, the daughter of John Cole DeHaven & Irene Killman DeHaven. John's biological father was Creighton (Sam) Shaw of North Carolina. His step-father was Sterling Grover (Jack) Clough, Sr. of Crisfield, Maryland.
John graduated in 1962 from Crisfield High School. He went to Baltimore Institute and completed the Accounting & IBM Computer Automation course. In 1965, John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and went to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. John also received tech school training at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas. John completed the Disbursement Accounting Specialist Course with honors. Then, he was stationed at Dover AFB, Dover, Delaware for the remainder of his 4-year enlistment.
While he was serving at Dover AFB, John met his wife, Pat, when he was invited by his friend to visit with him at his parents' home in
Dover, PA. John and Pat were married on May 20, 1967 and they moved to Dover, Delaware where John was stationed in the U.S. Air Force.
John worked for several CPA firms in York, PA and in Annapolis, Maryland. And he worked as Controller for Eisenhart Wallcoverings in Hanover, PA. He passed the CPA exam and received his CPA certificate dated August 3, 1981. John also served as Director of Finances at V F C C (currently, University of Valley Forge). John was also Contract Cost Administrator for BMY (currently, BAE Systems). John also served as Accounting Manager of Wilmac, Inc., (a multi-divisional nursing home company) in York, PA.
But John's greatest accomplishment was when he went to the altar at Pastor Carl Alcorn's Assembly of God Church and surrendered his will to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior during his tech school training days at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas. John has served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ from his salvation experience until now and he is ready to go and live with Him in Heaven forever when the trumpet sounds and the dead in Christ will be resurrected first (1 Thes. 4:16-18).
Then, in January 1990, John opened his CPA office in York, PA on George Street. But, after more than 16 years, he decided to retire from his CPA profession in June 2006. And for these many years, John enjoyed serving his clients.
John also became a member of the Gideons International – York West Camp in September 2006 and has served as President, Chaplain, Secretary, and Treasurer of the York West Campus. His wife, Pat, also joined the Gideons as an auxiliary member in September 2006. He has also been active as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer and board member for many years at Rohler's Assembly of God and Wrightsville Assembly of God churches while he was a member of these churches.
John is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Whitacre and husband, Phillip of Glen Rock, PA; grandsons, Brandon Whitacre and Brayden Whitacre of Glen Rock, PA; his brother, Sterling Clough, Jr. and wife, Beth of Marion, MD; nephew, Sterling "Stacy" Clough, III and wife, Lori of Earlville, MD; niece, Brandi Clough Willing and husband, Preston of Salisbury, MD; and nephew, Michael Clough and wife, Tina of Salisbury, MD.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Rohler's Assembly of God, 761 Rohlers Church Road,
Dover, PA with the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Ronald Stafford will be officiating the funeral service. Burial will follow in Rohlers Mountain View Cemetery where veteran's honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
