John Sheck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lambie Funeral Home - Philadelphia on Sep. 30, 2024.
John D. Sheck, III affectionately known by many as "Dan," was a beacon of light in our lives, radiating warmth, love, and an unwavering spirit of resilience. Born in the heart of Philadelphia, PA on October 28, 1948, Dan spent his life committed to his family, friends, and his beloved city. His life's narrative was marked by courage, loyalty, and a steadfastness that endeared him to all who knew him.
A machinist by trade, Dan worked diligently at the Philadelphia Inquirer for many years, his unwavering commitment and reliability earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was a proud member of the International Association of Machinist Local #864, and his dedication to his craft was only matched by his love for his family and his hobbies. Whether he was tending to his garden, cheering on his favorite soccer team, or enjoying a NASCAR race, caring for his animals, Dan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. But nothing brought him more joy than cheering on his children and grandchildren, their successes his greatest pride.
Dan's life was a testament to love - his love for his wife Terry, whom he adored more than anything, his love for his children Lori and Danny, his love for his grandchildren Aiden, Gianna, Gavin, Brandon, and Michael, his love for his sister Jeanne Hicks (Butch), many nieces, nephews, in-laws; (the O'Neills, Costellos, Drumms, Hicks) and his boys Dennis and Michael. He is survived by these loved ones and his cherished in-laws, Alani Hernandez and Carla Sheck, who he considered his own. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Jr. and Evelyn Sheck, siblings, Peggy, Eileen, and Tommy. His legacy of love lives on in the hearts of those he left behind.
Relatives and friends are invited to Dan's graveside services and military honors on Friday, July 19, 2024, 9:00 am at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery located at 830 Highland Road, Newtown, Pennsylvania, 18940. Please arrive no later than 8:45 am. All who knew and loved Dan are invited to join us as we celebrate a life well-lived and a love never-ending.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Dan's name to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
We encourage everyone to share their favorite memories and upload photos of Dan to the memorial page. These stories and images will serve as a collective memory, a testament to his impact and a comfort for those of us who loved him.
