It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love. Family and friends must say goodbye to their dear John Shell (Satsuma, Alabama), who passed away at the age of 86, on March 22, 2025.

In the quiet moments of reflection we shall carry John's memory with us, as a guiding light of being a Christian and a true friend.

John graduated from Vigor H.S. in 1957. Then later joined the United States Army serving in the DMZ Korea from 1962-63. After leaving the Army he worked as a Sheetmetal worker which gave him the opportunity to work all over the United States. He travelled to foreign countries and many states adding to his interesting life. But, to talk to him he was unassuming on these issues. He cared about people and helping others always. One example being volunteering for many years with the Satsuma Food Pantry. This is just one of the countless charities he supported. Later in life John joined the Creole Community Church where he was actively involved in the services and events there. John formed many close friendships during his time there. He was a character like no other in his temperament, sense of humor and friendship.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther G. Shell and Lodis E. Tipton Shell; his sister Yvonne Lockett; and his wife Betty Shell.

He is survived by his siblings, Linda Raines (Bobby) and Terry Shell (Frances); his brother-in-law Henry D. Lockett; and his stepchildren, Ramona Pickens and Andy Rawls (Carmen). John will be dearly missed by his nieces and an extraordinary nephew Michael. A special thank you to Aveona Hospice helpers Lyn, Kaylee and Yasmin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Creola Community Church. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Home of Grace, C/O. Donation Services, P.O. Box 5009, Vancleave, MS. 36565, or HomeofGrace.org.
