John Trammel Sheridan of Springfield, GA passed away suddenly at his residence on April 12, 2024. He was born on December 3, 1955 in Decatur, GA to the late Ruth Thiry and William Nathan Sheridan, Sr.

John was nothing short of a true treasure to his community and believed that all strangers were simply friends he hadn’t met yet. His days were spent bringing smiles and laughs to all that came into his path - which was a good many as he was sure to stay social and stay busy . John was an honest man, a family man, and a man of God with a servant’s heart. He was a dedicated worker that followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather by working over 40 years at Georgia Power. However, John's true joy came from the time he spent with his family. His retirement happened to coincide with the birth of his grandchildren and he happily accepted the role as part-time babysitter with unparalleled enthusiasm.

John loved his town and his home. He was a man of simple pleasures- listening to good music with good friends, enjoying motorcycle rides on sunny afternoons, finding bargains, and watching his grandchildren happily play in his pool . Most every afternoon, John could be found riding around in a golf cart with his rescue dog, Vanna, and engaging in conversations with every person in town. Again, the word stranger truly wasn’t in his vocabulary.

His desire to help others defined him as a pillar of strength in both his personal and professional life. When he saw a need, he was the first to lend a hand, and he was never afraid to stand up for what was right. John and his dog delivered meals to seniors most every day of the week. He also volunteered at the Fillin’ Station food pantry and tended to church grounds at Bethel Lutheran Church where he has been a member for over 10 years. John found joy in bringing others joy and always sought out ways to contribute positively to society and to the lives of his loved ones.

In addition to leaving behind a legacy of selflessness and compassion, John is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Wendy Leifels Sheridan; daughter, Emily Good; son, Luke Sheridan (Taylor); cherished grandchildren, Bowen, Asa, Tate, and Sawyer; brother, William Nathan Sheridan Jr. (Shel); and sister, Linda Sheridan Tolcher (The late Ray Tolcher); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and Vanna dog.

A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.

A private interment will take place following the service in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
