He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Fron and Sibyl Fron; grandmother Ruth Tissue; brother Hershel Short; son Ricky Potter.
He is survived by his wife Lorie Short; daughter Alichia Potter and Shane, son James Short and Nelly, daughter Amy Wright and Chad; brother Donald Wayne Short; grandchildren Jasmine, Breana, Matthew, Bri, Jacob, Blake, Chloe, and three great-grandchildren.
