John Philip Sieff passed away on August 11, 2024, in Naples, Florida; he was 96 years old. He was born on March 17, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He is preceded in his death by his parents Philip and Wilhelmina Sieff; his wife Jane; sister Shirley Johnson, brother-in-law Gene Johnson; and great-grandson Owen Burton. He is survived by his daughters Christine (Richard) Clogg, Lisa Knowles and Martha (David) Aas and his sons Philip (Laurie) and Peter (Delphine); his dear companion Nancy Healy; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Cornell College in 1950. He joined the S&M Company, founded by his father Philip in 1921, and served as sales manager and president from 1950-1995. He went on to be one of the founders and president of the Summit Tire Group. John was also an owner of Lyndale Hardware in Minneapolis. John was honored to be inducted in the Tire Industry Hall of Fame in 2005.
John was the longest-standing member of Golden Valley Country Club in Minneapolis, where he served as president, and a member of Lely Country Club in Naples. He was a member of Masons Scottish Rite; Minneapolis Athletic Club; and Sales and Marketing Club of Minneapolis.
He volunteered and served on the boards of directors of Grace Place for Children and Families in Naples; Marco Island Men's Club; and Minnesota Club Naples, all in Florida. John was a member and usher of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church (Minneapolis) and deacon of the United Church of Marco Island.
John was an avid Minnesota sports fan and loved to golf, fish and travel.
A private family service will be held at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held at United Church of Marco Island later this year.
In lieu of flowers and per John's request, memorials may be given to:
Shriner's Children's Hospital, Twin Cities or Grace Place for Children and Families, Naples, Florida.
