John Silva Obituary

John J. Silva, 90, of South Dennis formerly of Mansfield, husband of 64 years to Louise M. Silva who passed away in March of 2025, passed away on Monday June 2, 2025 following a stay at Royal Cape Cod Nursing home in Bourne. He was in hospice and was supported and visited regularly by his children and Hospice staff.

They resided and raised their 2 children in Mansfield for close to 35 years before moving to South Dennis in their retirement 1999. Over their many years together, they enjoyed camping, trips to visit friends, cruises and wintering for a few months each winter in various spots in FL.

During John's earlier years in Mansfield, he was very active in youth sports, coaching and umpiring for little league. He also served his church with time being part of the Knights of Columbus and offering collection at St. Mary's.

John was employed with the Foxboro company as Accts Payable Mgr., where he met Louise and retired after 35 years. He worked part time for years at Schaefer Stadium as collections manager for the concession stands. He ended his career with 15 years at United Liquors as collections manager and very much enjoyed those he worked with.

John was an avid golfer and had 2 different holes in one in his time golfing. His love for good music and dancing is known by many as he and Louise were wonderful dance partners. John loved Louise's cooking, the beach, boating on Cape Cod Bay, his pool, camping, watching sports, birds and especially dogs. He was a man of schedule, organization and maintenance. Being the child of immigrants, he built a good life for his family, afforded them so much and was proud of all that he achieved. He was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School, 53' and Bryant College with many years in night school.

He is survived and to be missed by his son Michael Silva and wife Meg of Rehoboth, his daughter Paula Silva Pierdinock and her husband Mike of Plymouth. 4 very loved grandchildren Justin & Samantha Silva and Taryn & Jan MacGregor. He was predeceased by his brothers Joe and Charles Silva, and his sister Teresa Tareco.

I worked in the same department with john for several years. My wife and i along with Buzzy and Mac Mckenzie and phyle Moseley and his wife went on many camping trips together and it was always fun. Parties and John and Louise house was always a feast of good food. Yes this was years ago but still a fond memory. I knew Louise from high school although I was a year older than she was so the two of them go a way back.

When I think of John, I hear his giggle. I can't put in to words what his friendship meant to Dad and what great friends both he and Louise were. Beautiful souls who will be missed.
