John Simms Obituary

It is with deep sorrow we inform you that John E. "Jack" Simms, 81, passed away peacefully in his home in Park Ridge on Sunday, July 31,2022. Loving husband of Diana Simms for 57 years; devoted father of Kyle (Rebecca) Simms, Jennifer Stanisic and Sheila Simms; beloved grandfather of Madeline, Andrea, Elaina and Tyler Simms, and William and James Stanisic.

Jack grew up in West Chicago. He attended West Chicago Community High School and then graduated from Wheaton College in 1964. He went on to earn his master's degree from Northern Illinois University. Jack was a dedicated teacher and coach of multiple sports at Glenbrook South High School for 28 years. While he loved all sports, he was most passionate about football.

Jack was an avid angler, and spent many hours with friends looking to land "a keeper", and always made time to "cast a few" with his grandchildren.

We extend an invitation to friends and family to join us at Cooney Funeral Home for a celebration of Jack's life. Let us share our favorite stories in an effort to lift our spirits. As long as we remember him, a piece of Jack will always be with us. Please come prepared with funny or uplifting stories so we know it's okay to smile through the tears.
