Simms, John B., Jr. (21 April, 2023) died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Proceeded in death by his parents (John and Alicia) and his two sisters (Catherine and Felicia). Beloved husband of Beverly A. Simms (nee Grossi). Loving father to John M. Simms (Diane), James F. Simms (Pam), Bernadette M. Doyle (Fran) and Beverly A. Carbone (Brad). Pop Pop will also be missed by his nine grandchildren Shannon (Jack O'Neil), Gina (Dan Wolfe), Natalie, Brendan, Rebecca, Sophie, Demi, Johnny, Ray and one great grandson Danny.
He was born on 13 July, 1932 in Philadelphia, grew up in Germantown as the oldest of three. His lifelong love of sports began during that time and he was an outstanding basketball player and golfer. A devout Catholic, he graduated from both La Salle College High School and La Salle College. For the rest of his life he took great pride in being a Lasallian. He was also very proud to be a Veteran of the United States Army.
He married Beverly, the love of his life, and they were about to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. Shortly after their marriage, they settled in Oreland where they raised a family of four. John went on to build a successful career as a tractor trailer salesman for the Trailmobile Division of Pullman Incorporated for the better part of two decades.
John's presence was known whenever he walked into a room with his great sense of humor and contagious smile.
In his retirement years, John continued to focus on his family, faith and his many friendships all of which brought him great joy. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Sandy Run Country Club where he was a member for 50 years. In his later years, he worked for Magarity Chevrolet in the Leasing Department and for the Flourtown Country Club where he worked in the pro shop.
John had a loving impact on his family and friends, and we will miss him dearly.
