John Sledge Obituary
John was the proud owner of the Murphy House Restaurant. He loved his family, and was married to the love of his life Winnie for fifty eight years. Together they had three children and were very active in the Louisburg community. John was a former Franklin County Commissioner as well as serving on the Franklin County Planning Board. Each year, John would serve Christmas Dinner to Louisburg residents at the Murphy House. John was an active and founding board member on the Core Sound Museum in Harker's Island. John was an avid golfer and enjoy playing gin with his friends. He was a member of the Green Hill Country Club where he loved to play golf. John never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. His presence will be greatly missed in the Louisburg community.
In addition to his parents; John is preceded in death by his brother, Craig Sledge.
John is survived by wife, Winnie Sledge; three daughters, Margo Sledge, Michelle Harris (Carlston), and Melanie Mitchell (William); one grandson, Tripp Harris, three granddaughters, Taylor Harris, Caroline Holt, and Camille Mitchell and two brothers, Larry Sledge (Sheila) and Andy Sledge (Kim).
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 2:00pm at Forest Lakes Club House in Louisburg, NC.

John and I along with Jerry Lamb road and played golf together on all of our out-of-town golf trips. John always had stories he would tell on Jerry's truck riding to the golf course that were very funny to say the least I'll miss Sledge!
