Smith, John Cade - Age 72, of Grand Blanc, passed away September 18, 2025. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. (The funeral service may be viewed by livestream from a link at Mr. Smith's page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.) Visitation will be held at the funeral home 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, September 23; and from 11:00 AM until the 12 Noon service time on Wednesday, September 24. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
John was born April 23, 1953 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the son of John Reynolds Smith and Cammie (Peeper) Smith. He married Marie Verdoux on July 30, 1977. He retired from General Motors (Metal Fab) with many years of services and was a member of Local 659. John was a family man first and was a devoted husband, father, and a doting Papa. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being outside. He was a lifelong boater, enjoying boating in The Great Lakes, especially Lake Huron. He loved vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie; two daughters, Ashley Smith, and Courtney (Matthew) Houtman; grandchild, Collins Houtman; sister, Deborah Middleton; nieces, Andrea (Shawn) Gage, and Allison Middleton (Michael Lonsberry); great-niece, Addison Gage and great-nephew, Bennett Lonsberry.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Smith; mother, Cammie Alarie; step father, Harold "Hal" Alarie; and his mother's longtime companion, Pete Protsman.
