East Providence - John Sousa,72, a cherished husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Miriam Hospital in
Providence, RI. Born on January 14, 1953, in Providence, John's life was a testament to his loving, kind, and handy nature.
John was the beloved husband of Joanne M. Brown, with whom he shared countless memories and a life full of love. He was a devoted son to his mother, Flora Delmarg, and honored the memory of his late father, Norman J. Sousa. His role as a father was one he held dear, proud of his children, John Sousa Jr. and his wife Brigida of Warwick, RI, and Marie George of Seekonk, MA. John's siblings, Brian Sousa of Bristol, Sandra Sousa of Pawtucket, and Cindy Sousa of Bristol, will remember him as a brother who was always there for them. His four grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews, will miss the warmth and guidance of their grandfather.
John left an indelible mark on the community through his dedication as a machine repairman technician at Allied Printing. His remarkable career spanned over 51 years, where he was not only a skilled professional but also a friend to many. Since 1991, John made his home in East Providence, after spending years in Barrington, Bristol, and Warren. His commitment to his faith was evident in his active membership at the New Hope Christian Church, where he found great comfort and fellowship.
A man of many interests, John had an adventurous spirit. He delighted in travelling to New Hampshire, where the mountains offered him a sense of peace and renewal. His visits to Roger Williams Park Zoo and Southwick Zoo were sources of joy, as he loved observing the wonders of nature and the animal kingdom. Motorcycles were another passion, providing him with a sense of freedom and excitement on the open road. Above all, John loved his job and took great pride in his work, which was a significant part of his identity.
John Sousa's legacy is one of steadfast love, kindness, and a talent for fixing anything that came his way. His presence brought comfort and security to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we say goodbye to a man who was the very embodiment of a life well-lived, we find solace in the memories and the love he left behind. John's life story is one of unwavering dedication to his family, work, and community, and his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Rest in peace, John, knowing that your journey was one of purpose, love, and profound impact.
