John J. Stacko

John J. Stacko, age 74, passed away unexpectedly and was pronounced deceased on September 14, 2025. Born in Chicago on April 25, 1951, John grew up in Cicero and spent his formative years in both Chicago and Cicero. He later made his home in Lyons for the past 28 years, with brief relocations to Wisconsin and Michigan. He was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Florence Stacko.

John is survived by his siblings Joan (Stan) Zaworski, Joseph (Sue) Stacko, and Arlene Stacko. He was preceded in death by his sister. Carol Ann Stacko. A proud and loving uncle, John cherished his nieces and nephews: Joy, Lori, Carolyn, Brian, Stanley, Julie, Jeffrey, Joey, and Jessica.

John lived a simple, thoughtful, and independent life filled with meaningful routines and quiet pleasures. He loved bike riding, fishing, and "treasure hunting" at local antique and thrift stores, always searching for a hidden gem or a piece of the past. He also enjoyed visiting neighborhood eateries, where he would socialize with friends and connect with others in the community. He especially loved long summertime bike rides around Lyons and nearby Riverside, where he could rest on a bench, greet passing locals, and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and independent spirit, John had a special gift for making others feel welcome. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his thoughtful and amusing ways, his love of family, and the deep care he showed for the well-being of others.

A memorial gathering to honor John's life will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home. 7710 S. Cass Avenue, Darien IL. A private burial will follow.
