John Stefura, 91, of Carteret passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at his home.
Born in Jersey City, John has resided in Carteret for 55 years and honorably served in the United States Army. He was proudly employed as an operating engineer with Local 825 for 42 years before retiring. John was a member of the Carteret Seniors and was a hardworking, humble man. Nothing gave him more pleasure than to watch his grandchildren grow over the years and attend their many sporting events from childhood to college. John was also a New York Giants football fan; holding season tickets since 1956.
John was predeceased by his parents along with his brother in 2021, Peter Stefura. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Doris (Obolsky) Stefura; children, John R. Stefura with his wife Liscia and Margaret Anderson with her husband David; grandchildren, Dana and Justine Stefura and Matthew and Erik Anderson; two nephews, John and Raymond Obolsky and his life long friend of 80 years, Harold Irwin.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Friday, February 2, 2024 at CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home, Edison.

John was such a nice and sweet gentle man. so sorry for the family. Doris took such good care of him, but now he is at peace.
