After a long battle with health issues, John Lanier Stembridge of Knoxville, TN, passed away August 21,2025, at his home.

He was born December 13, 1939, to William Frank and Xavier (Bonnie) Stembridge in Hapeville, Georgia. John attended Hapeville High School.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom Stembridge, Jerry Stembridge (AKA Chip Young), Bill Stembridge, Roger Stembridge, and Joe Stembridge; sister, Sarah Zink.

He is survived by his wife Millie Hill Stembridge of Knoxville; daughter, Christine (Shane) Richardson of Holden, MO; Son, John Andrew Stembridge of Knoxville; Four wonderful grandchildren, Hannah, Issac, Malachi, and Tabitha Richardson; Stepdaughters, Katrina (Jon) Laster, Emily (Jason) White; Step grandchildren, Sarah (Devon) Poplin, Daniel Laster, Maisy (Josiah) Garcia, Hayden White; As well as host of nieces and nephews.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed volunteering at the Children's Bible Ministries. He attended first Baptist Church Powell.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Powell at 7706 Ewing Rd, Powell, TN 37849 on Saturday, August 30,2025, with Pastor Tim McGhee officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00PM-4:00PM with Military Honors starting at 4:00PM with a Service to follow.

In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make a donation to: Children's Bible Ministries at Tuchaleechee Retreat Center.
