Robert Turpin (Bob), beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 28, 2026. Bob was born in
Beech Grove, Indiana, to Robert and Gene Turpin, where he grew up surrounded by family, neighbors, and friendships that would last a lifetime.
Bob had a playful sense of humor, loved teasing and at times, was a bit of a prankster. To his nieces and nephews, he was fondly known as "Uncle Bobby," a title embraced by Jerry, Laura, and Alex, who were often on the receiving end of his good-natured antics.
Professionally, Bob spent the first part of his career in industrial sales, before making a meaningful mid-life transition into education. Teaching became one of the most fulfilling chapters of his working life. During his years in the Franklin Central school system, he valued the camaraderie of colleagues and the opportunity to make a difference in students' lives. He also spent time coaching track, enjoying the chance to mentor students beyond the classroom.
Bob treasured time spent with friends and neighbors, especially during card parties and holiday gatherings, evenings filled with laughter, stories, and connection. These are the moments that brought him genuine joy. He was also active in his community and took an interest in local politics, even serving in an elected neighborhood role, reflecting his commitment to the people around him.
An outdoorsman at heart, Bob cherished family camping trips and reunions at Brown County State Park, traditions that created lasting memories across generations. Later in life, he moved to Tennessee, where he embraced the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, enjoying them in every season on regular road trips with Kathy.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Turpin; his daughter, Elizabeth (Chris Hall)Turpin; and his three adored grandchildren, Audrey, Freddy, and Gwen, who were a constant source of pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Denny Turpin, Debbie (Rick) Basham, and Patti (Mike)Peck.
Bob will be remembered for his humor, his enduring friendships, his love of family, and the quiet fulfillment he found in teaching and the outdoors. His laughter, stories, and mischievous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
