John Edward Stock was born on December 14, 1958, in Appleton MN to Willie and Marjorie (Heldt) Stock. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith; John later joined Grace Lutheran Church of Correll. He attended elementary school in Ortonville and Correll, then graduating from Appleton High School in 1977. While in high school he was involved in wrestling and football. Following high school, John drove school bus for the Appleton School District and later the Lac qui Parle Valley School District, for 43 years until he retired due to his health.
At the core, John was a farmer and a family man. On April 26, 1980, John married his high school sweetheart, Connie Kay Moe. Together they raised their three sons, Joshua, Nicholas and Mitchell, on their farm near Correll. He spent his life working with his father and then his sons on the farm, both raising cattle and crops. John bought his first dairy cow when he was 16 years old and spent many years milking cows with his father and continuing with his family. John encouraged his sons to participate in 4-H and FFA, instilling the value of agriculture in his family. John worked at several local ag businesses while milking cows. Later John worked at Stock Service in Correll with his family and enjoyed spending time working alongside his sons at the shop.
John was an avid collector of J.I. Case tractors and equipment; he enjoyed sharing his passion of collecting with his sons and family. In the summertime, John and Connie were likely to be found at an area threshing bee visiting about farming. On any given day, John could be found visiting with friends, often starting his mornings with coffee in town. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to a neighbor. He loved driving around to check in on what the boys were working on, how the crops were coming along, and what his grandkids were up to. John always made time for friends and family, especially his grandkids. John was an active member of the Correll Fire Department, Northland Case Collectors and Western Prairie Farm Collectors.
John passed away on December 7, 2025 at the age of 66, following a two year courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Connie, his sons Joshua Stock (Kirstin), Nicholas Stock (Kara) and Mitchell Stock (Megan), his grandchildren Skyler, Seth, Steel, Stone, Mazie, Laikyn and Case and several other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Marjorie Stock, sisters Laura Carrington and Mary Block, brother-in-law Tom Carrington, sister-in-law Patty Gabrielson, mother-in-law Marvis Moe and father-in-law Robert Moe. Blessed be the memory of John Stock.
