Mr. John "Stoney" Stone, age 88 of Allegre, passed away 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Western Kentucky Veteran's Center in Hanson, KY. Services will be Saturday January 10, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, KY with Nick Thomas, Tony Powell and Rev. Ron Noffsinger officiating. Burial will follow in the France Cemetery in Todd County. Visitation will be Saturday January 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. John was born in Crofton, KY on May 9, 1937. He retired from Peabody Coal Company, Warrier Coal Co and Andalex Coal Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. John was a member of the First Christian Church of Greenville where he served as an Elder, he attended the Christian Church of Elkton. One of the many things he enjoyed was raising cattle. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Lee and Mary Jane Bell Stone, his first wife Norma Stone in 2002 and his second wife Diane Noffsinger Stone in 2012, his parents his brother Ed Stone, and his sisters Dorothy Cavanah and Sissy Back.

He is survived by his daughter Kristi Thomas and her husband Randy of Sharon Grove, KY, his grandson Nick Thomas and his wife Ashley of Sharon Grove, KY his great grandson Lane Thomas.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Western Kentucky Veterans Home 926 Veterans Drive, Hanson, KY 42413 or the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
