John Studt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center - West Fargo on Mar. 28, 2025.
John Edward Studt passed away on March 27, 2025, at home in Horace, North Dakota, surrounded by his family. John was known for his storytelling, craftsmanship, and unsolicited advice.
Born on June 15, 1951, in West Point, Nebraska, to Larry Studt and Margrette Remm Studt Brown. John grew up with his sisters, Sherry (Bruce) Liljequist, Patsy Lyman, Cyndi (Brett) Brunelle Chabert, and Margie (David) English, who helped shape his humor and patience (or lack thereof).
After graduating from Fremont High School, John served six years in the United States Navy and Naval Reserves. He attended Northwest Technical College in Moorhead, Minnesota, achieving a degree in Carpentry. This craft became both his career and passion, building many homes and relationships as the owner of Quality Structures Inc.
On March 31, 1979, John married Karen Rodgers in West Fargo, North Dakota. Together, they built not just a home, but a life with three children-Kristen (Jason) Cigelske, Jason (Jenna) Studt, and Brian Studt-who carry on his work ethic and attention to detail. In recent years, he found great joy gardening with his mother, but nothing brought him more happiness than being Grandad to Jaxson, Maverick, and Charleigh Cigelske. He loved passing down lessons in gardening and yardwork, always rewarding their hard work with a drink and a sweet treat.
John had a passion for the outdoors. He was happiest hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and sharing an elaborate story. His legacy lives on in the homes he built, the lessons he taught, and the lives he touched. In his honor, spend time outdoors, finish a project, share a meal, and always remember-measure twice, cut once.
