John "Jack" Joseph Suscovich
John "Jack" Joseph Suscovich, 79, of Levittown, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 12, 1946, in the Pittsburgh area.
John was predeceased by his parents, Bertha (Jaracz) and Anthony Suscovich; his beloved wife, Karen (Martin) Suscovich; and his son, Todd Suscovich. He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" and Margaret; his sons, Scott Suscovich (Angela) and Michael Suscovich; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas and Sarah Suscovich.
John graduated from New Kensington High School in 1964 and went on to earn his degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1968. He then moved to the Levittown area to begin his teaching career, dedicating 35 years of his life to shaping young minds at Pennsbury Elementary School, where he taught all subjects but held a special passion for science. A man of many talents and unwavering work ethic, he was also a longtime proprietor of a painting and handyman business, demonstrating his diverse skills and commitment to hard work.
His greatest joy, however, came from coaching youth sports and watching his family grow through athletics. Known affectionately as "Grandfather Time" by his players, John served as the official scorekeeper and timekeeper, kept practices running smoothly, and helped set up drills - all while imparting life lessons that extended far beyond the field. He coached his sons Scott and Michael in baseball, his grandson Nicholas in football and lacrosse, and his granddaughter Sarah in lacrosse. His mantras of "Never Quit, Never Stop" and "Rub some dirt on it" became rallying cries that inspired young athletes to persevere.
When he wasn't teaching or coaching, John could be found in his backyard sanctuary, which he lovingly transformed into an oasis complete with ponds and gardens designed to attract pollinators and migrating birds. He was an avid sports fan, loyal to both his Pittsburgh Steelers roots and his adopted Philadelphia Eagles, and followed the Phillies with equal passion. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren in their high school and college athletic endeavors.
To his family growing up, he was Jack. To his sons, he was Dad. To his grandchildren, he was Poppop. To his players, he was Grandfather Time. In every role, he was a constant presence of strength, dedication, and love.
A private funeral service and spreading of ashes will be held for the family.
