John D Sweeney

John D. Sweeney, 64, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

John was born in Schenectady, New York, the son of the late Edith Sweeney and John F. Sweeney, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Throughout his life, John held various jobs in the Schenectady area, most recently working as a cook at Price Chopper, where he was known for his hard work and friendly nature.

John was a kind and generous man who would always help anyone in need. He was a devoted and caring brother who deeply valued his family. In his free time, John found joy in music and laughter, especially singing karaoke at the 1010 Lounge and Casey's Bar, where he enjoyed spending time with friends and sharing his love of song.

He is survived by his brother, Tom Sweeney; his sisters, Kathy Sweeney, Diane Raybine, and Debbie Kilcher; several beloved nieces and nephews; and his longtime girlfriend, Lee, who held a special place in his life.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by family members who welcomed him home with love.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.

John will be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and the music and joy he brought into the lives of those who knew him.
