John Demar Sylvester

was born in Memphis, Tennessee on March 16, 1947, the son of the late Irvin Victor Sylvester and Ruby (Elizabeth) Russell Whitten.

On September 5, 1992 he was united in marriage to Glenda Ann Collum, who survives.

John served his country proudly in the United States Marines.  He served the City of Savannah Police Department for 28 years.  John's patrol number was 907.  In his spare time he loved watching scary movies, he would really get into them.  John enjoyed his motorcycles that he had over the years. He loved his cats, they were his babies.  John always had to love and rub them first before they would eat or drink.

He departed this life on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 19 days.

In addition to his wife of 31 years, Glenda of Savannah, Tennessee, John is survived by one son, Charles B. (Chucky) Tucker, IV and his wife Ashley of Savannah, Tennessee; grandsons, Brody Bixler and Elijah Tucker; sisters, Norma Tucker of Cordova, Tennessee, Jane Sylvester of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Denise Griffith of Memphis, Tennessee; and sister-in-law, Linda Sylvester.

John was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joann Sage; and brother, Irvin Victor (Vic) Sylvester, Jr.
