Mr. John T. "Papa John" Higgins

Mr. John T. "Papa John" Higgins, age 83, of Almo, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the Murray Calloway County Hospital. Mr. Higgins was born in Golden Pond, Kentucky on March 12, 1938. He was retired from Briggs and Stratton and was a member of the Old Salem Baptist Church in Murray. Mr. Higgins enjoyed gardening, flowers, camping and fishing. Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his parents, Sammie Higgins and Gladys Rains Higgins Wyatt; son, Thomas J. Higgins; grandson, Jonathan R. Higgins; granddaughter, Felixia Higgins; and two brothers, Bobby Joe Pool and S. Marshall Higgins. Survivors include two daughters, Perneica Goodwin and husband Jeff of Herrin, Illinois and Katrina Gallops and husband Mike of Herrin, Illinois; one son, Robert Higgins and wife Kelly of Almo, Kentucky; 18 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Rev. Richard Burkeen will officiate, and burial will follow in the Newby Cemetery in LBL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the J.H.
