John Walraven Tamson

John Walraven Tamson, Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Chesapeake on December 8, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on April 11, 1944, in New Jersey, John lived a life marked by dedication to his family and country.

John served honorably as an infantryman in the United States Army, demonstrating courage and commitment to his nation. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and rewarding career with Equitable Life Insurance Company, where he worked diligently for over 35 years until his retirement.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was known for his love of computer gaming, which provided him both enjoyment and camaraderie. He cherished moments spent with his family and found great joy in watching his grandchildren grow.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John W. Tamson, Sr. and Helen Tamson. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever miss his presence. Surviving him are his devoted wife of 53 years, Lynn Tamson; his daughter, Jennifer Pelegrino and her husband Michael; his two sons, Jason and Christopher Tamson; and his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel, and Jaoel. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Orlofsky.

John's life was one of quiet strength and unwavering love for those he held dear. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
