Mark's Funeral & Cremation ServiceJohn Templefeld, a beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was 85 years old.
John was born on May 16, 1940, in Kovil, Yugoslavia, to Johann and Julia Templefeld. As a young man, he immigrated to the United States—a transition that marked the beginning of his lifelong patriotism and service.
He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he honorably served his adopted country.
John’s greatest joy arrived when he met the love of his life, Diana Margheim. The two were united in marriage on October 13, 1962, embarking on a devoted partnership that lasted 63 years.
They settled in Longmont, Colorado, where John built a long and successful career with IBM until his retirement. Afterward, John and Diana returned to Windsor, where they became active and cherished members of Bethel Lutheran Church.
John was a man who knew how to embrace life. He and Diana were active members of the Edelweiss Schuhplatter dance community, sharing a love for culture and movement. He enjoyed the outdoors—especially fishing and camping—and he loved traveling and the occasional trips to Blackhawk. Above all, John treasured time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, James Templefeld, and his sister, Teresia (Erwin) Metzger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana Margheim Templefeld; his parents, Johann and Julia Templefeld; his sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Stites; and his younger brother, Wilheim “Willie” Templefeld.
Funeral services will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut Street, Windsor, CO 80550, on December 19, 2025, at 10 AM. The service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person at: (https://blcwindsor.org/livestream/)
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in his memory.
