John Termine Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home - Wethersfield on Feb. 10, 2025.
John Jude Termine, 78, of Rocky Hill, beloved by many, entered eternal peace on February 7, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. His journey was marked by courage and an unwavering smile, reflecting his spirit in facing life's challenges. Born to the late John and Dorothy (Bisaccia) Termine, John was a beacon of kindness, compassion, and love to all who knew him. His infectious personality and warmth touched countless lives, garnering him a global circle of friends.
John's life was deeply rooted in Christian faith. He dedicated over four decades to teaching at St. Rose School in East Hartford, where he took immense pride in nurturing young minds and instilling a love for learning in his students. His commitment to his faith was evident in his regular participation in prayer groups and religious retreats across the Northeast. John's love for religious exploration led him to visit numerous churches, always showing respect and appreciation for diverse faiths. His beautiful singing voice was a cherished part of the weekly Mass, leaving an indelible mark on those who sat beside him.
A true history enthusiast, John collected religious artifacts, paper memorabilia, and other items of historical significance. His generosity knew no bounds; he was always ready to support charitable causes and contribute to his community, never hesitating to lend a hand in maintaining the neighborhood he loved.
John is survived by an extended family that includes not only his blood relatives but also the close friends who became family over the years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Friends and family may visit the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. or go directly to the Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church of St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, CT. Burial will be at West Meadow Cemetery, 679 Willard Ave. Newington.

John and I were friends since 2004 . He was there for me everytime I needed advice. I looked up to him not only as friend but a family. As a new immigrant back then he guided me about life in America. I thank God for his friendship.

I am shocked and saddened to learn just now of Mr. Termine's passing. Not only was he one of my best and most memorable teachers at St. Rose in the late `70s, but became a good friend as well. His love for the Lord and his Catholic faith led to countless conversations with him that undoubtedly influenced my own spiritual development and ultimately my decision to be ordained a priest. He was my Confirmation sponsor and I took John as my Confirmation name in part because of his spiritual influence on me. Thank you John for your faithfulness and unconditional love and support. May our Good God hold you in his loving embrace for all eternity.

I was a student of Mr. Termine several years ago. I´ve always remembered him and how he cared for us students. He had such a wonderful charisma about him that was unique. Last summer, I saw him at the closing mass for St. Rose church, and had the privilege to get this picture with him in his former classroom. Mr. Termine is a legend in education.

He was one of my favorite, best and certainly most memorable teachers. He had such a great sense of humor and a unique sense of style. May he rest in peace and those who loved him find comfort in their fond memories of time spent with him.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr Termine´s passing. He was my teacher at St Rose School and then in later years became my children´s teacher and a colleague of mine when I worked at St Rose School until it closed. Mr Termine was such a dedicated teacher who shared his knowledge with others. So many good memories that I hold dear. May he Rest in Peace and be reunited with his parents who he missed so much. I will have a Mass said for him at St Augustine Parish.
