Obituary

John Dale Thompson

July 1, 1943- September 22, 2025

John Dale Thompson, 82, passed away at his home in Worland, Wyoming on September 22, 2025.

He was born on July 1, 1943 in Portland, Oregon to Harold and Helen (Osborne) Thompson. John spent the early part of his life in Nebraska. This is where he met and married the love of his life, Glenda Quinn on February 12, 1964. This union brought four children into the world, Carrie, Dan, Troy and Lorenda. In the late 1960s, his job in the oil field brought them to Wyoming where John traveled around the state wherever his job took him. In the early 2000's he retired and settled down in Riverton, Wyoming.

John enjoyed the quiet life and never wanted to cause a fuss. He enjoyed making canes from wood and sitting outside listening to the birds. He was very proud of his grandchildren, and you could always find him on the sidelines of whatever sport they were participating in.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glenda; daughter, Lorenda LaFleur; son, Dan Thompson and sister, Yvonne Loomis.

He is survived by his son, Troy (Deb) Thompson of Worland; daughter, Carrie Layton; sisters, Diana Loomis of Nebraska, Vivian Miller of Colorado and Mary Bailey of Nebraska; grandchildren: Travis (Brenda) Thompson of Omaha, Nebraska and Ashley (Todd) Byerly of Douglas, Wyoming; great-grandchildren: Kolin Krizan, Kylee, Cherie and Ramey.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in Scottsbluff, Nebraska at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
