John "Jack" Tielke

John (Jack) Tielke 92 was born on January 3, 1932 to AJ and Hildegard (Becker) Tielke in Niobrara, Nebraska and passed away May 18, 2024 at Parkside Manor in Stuart, NE. He moved to the Stuart area in 1938 and graduated from Stuart High School in 1948. Jack joined the Army in 1951 and served in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. He joined the Stuart Legion Post 115 in 1954 and has been a member for 70 years.
For the next 30 years, Jack enjoyed working as a ranch hand south of Stuart. He married Edith Hamik in 1959 and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. They moved to Stuart in 1984 where Jack worked at South Side gas station before retiring in 1995.
Jack enjoyed fishing, trapping, gardening, bird watching, and making scroll clocks. At one point Jack had over 30 chiming clocks in the house. Noon and midnight were quite boisterous, and it was always a chore at daylight savings time.
Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith, children Guy, Tim (Karen), Lori (Swood), grandchildren Heather (Brian), Hannah (Tyler), great-granddaughters, Devorah and Ries and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, one granddaughter (Anna Maria), seven siblings, their spouses, three nephews and one niece and one great niece.
