John Traegler Obituary
DOVER, DE - John R. Traegler, Sr. slipped into the presence of the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2023. Mr. Traegler was born June 19, 1931, in Princeton, New Jersey to the late Fred and Louise Traegler.
Growing up in Princeton, he participated in several baseball and basketball teams. Mr. Traegler graduated from Princeton High School in 1949 and went on to serve over 32 years in the United States Air Force. His military service includes the Korean War, Japan, Willow Grove PA AFB, and Dover Air Force Base. Mr. Traegler achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant and retired honorably from the Air Force in 1980.
He lived a life of faithful and selfless service. He volunteered with the Lingohocken Fire Company in Wycombe, PA and was the treasurer, deacon and Sunday School teacher in several churches. His children remember him working 3 jobs at a time to support his family and provide for them. Mr. Traegler would often help and transport the elderly, widowed, and disabled. He rarely spent any money on himself, but he did enjoy good food and his ice cream.
His wife of 61 years, Jill Traegler, predeceased him in 2015. He is survived by: his sons, John R. Traegler, Jr. (Kathleen) of Lexington, SC and James W. Traegler (Carol) of Dover; daughters, Judy Brill of Bath, NY and Jayne Randle (John) of Dover; grandchildren, Robert (Christine) Presler, Abby and Nick Traegler, Amanda (Jon) Mitchell, Ben and Dillan Young; great grandchildren, Julia and Savannah Presler, Eli and Madilynn Mitchell; brothers, Robert (Sally) of New Jersey, William (Cathy) of NY, Richard of Florida; and brother-in-law, Harry Tinsman. He was predeceased by sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Bob Hamer; sister, Joan Tinsman; and sister-in-law, Sandy Traegler.
An evening visitation will be held 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday, February 23rd, 2023, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware.
Funeral services will be held 12:00pm, the following day, Friday, February 24th, 2023, at The Independent Bible Fellowship Church, 6797 Milford-Harrington Highway, Harrington, DE. Friends may visit one hour prior at 11:00am. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Independent Bible Fellowship Church.

Mr. Treagler was in the jet engine shop when I arrived in 1978. I never remember him ever being anything but a kind and soft spoken man. I was very happy see him again at the retirement luncheons at Halls. I will think of him often and I´m sorry for your loss.
