John Gladden Troutman Jr. Westerville, OH, passed away peacefully, but unexpectedly, on Sunday, January 26, 2025, after nearly 60 years of complications with Type 1 Diabetes. John was born February 22, 1941 at Berger Hospital in Circleville, Ohio. His parents were Gladden and Roma Troutman.
John met Christine Ann Paullin at Capital University and they were married on June 6, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church in Loudonville, OH. They celebrated 60 years of marriage this past June in Shelby, NC, with many of Johns family members.
John is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Christine; daughters, Amy (Tim) Martin of Gahanna, OH, Lori (Kirk) Bantz of Powell, OH, and grandchildren, Jordan (Christina) Martin, Hilliard, OH, Cassidy (Seth) Murphy, Gahanna OH, and Nathanial Bantz, Powell, OH and great grandchild, Jonah Murphy. He is also survived by his devoted siblings, David (Linda) Troutman, Franklin, TN, Norma (Bill) Meyers, Shelby, NC, and Teresa (Gary) Hayworth, Mechanicsburg, PA; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Gladden and Roma Troutman, nephews, Timothy Meyers and Kevin Troutman and niece, Karen Troutman.
John is a graduate of Circleville High School (1959), Capital University (BSBA, 1963), Xavier University (MBA, Finance, 1975). He started his business career in 1963 at BF Goodrich in Akron, Ohio. He moved the family to West Chester, OH in 1973 to begin his career at Cincinnati Milacron, as Assistant Treasurer. In 1994, they moved to Sidney, OH, where he was President of Midwest Elastomers, until retirement in 2003, when he and Christine moved to Westerville to be close to their daughters. Organizations in which John was involved include The American Red Cross, Donate Life, and United Way. John supported these organizations as well as American Diabetes Association, and JDRF, now known as Breakthrough T1D.
Music has been an integral part of his life, beginning with high school band, and continuing throughout his life, including Capital University Chapel Choir and Choral Union, church choirs and serving as cantor at the churches he and Chris attended. He also enjoyed being in the audience for his family members solos, choir concerts, dance and theater performances.
Another passion for John was sports. He wrestled in high school and college, and found a lot of joy in watching family members participating in their sports.
And it cant go without mention, that some of the best days of his life included family, water, a boat and a sunny, beautiful, glorious day!
John was not only an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin and more, but more importantly, he was an incredible Christian role model for all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Donations may be made in John's honor to the Breakthrough T1D, formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1733 West Lane Avenue, Columbus OH 43221. https://www2.breakthrought1d.org/site/Donation2?2374.donation=form1&df_id=2374&mfc_pref=T

When I sang in the choir on special occasions I liked singing along with John. His bass voice resonated. His kindness and joie de vie was evident, and I never would have guessed that he was diabetic. As John now sings in heaven, your faith knows that you have the assurance that someday you will be reunited to sing together. (Ron Hoch)

Mr. Troutman was the absolute kindest man. Always pleasant and willing to work hard at his diabetes. Mrs. Troutman - you were an ideal team and role model for marriage. May his memory be a blessing and may your belief that God will reunite you again one day bring some comfort in this sad time.
