John R. Troutner, 80, Husband of Suzanne Troutner, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, KY.
Born on July 28, 1942, in Altadena, California, he was the son of Harold and Freda Troutner.
John was a Medical Trainer while in the Army, and trained Medics that were sent overseas to fight in Viet Nam.
When he left the Army, he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff for the city of Los Angeles, California. He retired from LASD in 1981, after 15 years of service. He and his family then moved to Alaska, where he took a job with the State of Alaska, as a Sgt. for the Dept. of Corrections. He retired from the department after 20 years. John and his wife lived in Alaska for 40 years.
He was also the President of the largest Classic Car Club in Alaska, the 49th State Street Rodders, for 10 years. He and his wife then moved to Harrodsburg, Kentucky, to be closer to their Son and his family.
John was proceeded in death by his daughter, Coreen Wagner and nephew, Brent Rutherford.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are his daughters, Tammy Neuharth and Cindy Shine, and his son, Josh Crager.Daughter-in-law, Tracey Crager, Granddaughter, Alyra Crager, Grandson, US Marine SSGT, Chase Schmidt. Brother-in-Law, Michael E. Buck and Mother-in Law, Helen D'Angelo. There are also several loved grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Hartman, and nieces Madeline Donoghue and Tanya Rutherford. Best friends, brothers, Gary and Daryl Smith.
Funeral services will be held July 28th at 11 AM at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County, Kentucky.
Care Cremation is honored to be entrusted with final care.
