John Turin Obituary
July 13, 1944 - October 25, 2023
John Craig Turin passed away peacefully in his home on October 25, 2023. John attended Sylvania High School and then received his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Toledo. He continued at UT and obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence, then became a prominent general practice lawyer in the Toledo area for many years. John also served in the Air Force National Guard. He had friends everywhere you looked and clients from every station and walk of life.
He was recently predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Sharlotte; and is survived by his son, John J. Turin; daughter, Ashley; son-in-law, Dan Dynan; and his grand-twins, Faelyn and Nehemiah Dynan; sisters, Talia Yates, Jenifer, and Beth Duryea; brother, David Turin; and mother, Sybil Turin.
In early life, John enjoyed bodybuilding and judo. As he matured, he became an avid skier, sailor, and sport shooter. John was a long-standing member of the Toledo Ski Club, North Cape Yacht Club, and the Adams Conservation Club. He was also an excellent cook who especially enjoyed his grill, even in a driving snowstorm.
John was a loyal spouse, caring father, and attentive and affectionate grandfather. Being a master of sarcasm and sometimes inappropriate humor, he often jokingly repeated a quote from his former law partner and friend, Ed Van Gunten: "Put me out for the unlimited pick-up and throw a party for my friends."
So, to honor that intent, there will be a memorial party at the Sylvania Elks Lodge #53 on Sunday, November 12th, from 3-6 p.m. Please join us to celebrate his life.
